Help Arizona Trout Unlimited get a $5,000 Grant!

Cox Communications, our local cable company, and The Trust for Public Land are recognizing volunteers who are creating, preserving or enhancing shared outdoor spaces by awarding $5,000 to $10,000 grants to the environmental nonprofit of their choice. John Jordan has been selected as one of three finalists chosen by Cox Communications for his volunteer work with Trout Unlimited and Glen Canyon Dam Adaptive Management Program.

Most of you do not know John because he woks in the background and much of his work on behalf of the Lees Ferry fishery is known only to those he works with. John has been the recreational fishery representative on the Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Program for the past several years where he has volunteered thousands of hours of his own time to help protect and promote the Lees Ferry fishery.

Each finalist receives $5,000 for the environmental nonprofit of their choice. John has designated the Trout Unlimited Arizona State Council so they can continue their work on restoration projects for Apache and Gila trout and other water projects in Arizona.

Your support in an online public vote through Monday, August 10th will provide an additional $5,000 for a total of $10,000 to the top vote winning finalist's chosen nonprofit. Please consider voting now by clicking: www.cox7.com/cox-conserves. Then follow the “Vote for Arizona 2015…” link at the top to the individual voting.

Please pass this around to all your friends who enjoy fishing.

Thanks to all the volunteers working on angling projects!

Wow....talk about irony.

Google James Cox Kennedy (yes, that Cox) and Stream Access Laws in Montana.

And he is sponsoring a $5K grant for "preserving and enhancing shared outdoor space". LOL!

But best of luck to John and Trout Unlimited.

Cox's last price raise for basic cable and 5000 users should cover the 10,000 dollars in 1 month.

PS: John Jordon is one of the most unselfish anglers that I have ever seen.
