Steve, there were a few people I didn't get to meet also. You were one of them. Next time hopefully!

Thanks to everyone who came out and made it a success. It was good to meet some new folks and see some old familiar faces.

I absolutely love Boulders on Broadway!! Awesome bartenders, music and great beer selection. Unforunately I work Fridays, I'm a chef, so I can't make it.

Wished I could have made this one.. It just wasn't in the cards. Hopefully this is going to be a semi regular thing. Thanks for organizing DJ.

Fishing results from flies tied at the event (sorry for the delay)!

After my son Ethan and I came out to the fly tying event on Friday, we made a family trip to Willow Springs Lake on Fathers Day (Sunday). The idea was to do a picnic with the fam, enjoy the cool weather, and get a chance to try out the new flies we just tied.

One of the guys helped Ethan tie a modified mini hopper with green elk hair, so that was the first fly we tied on. 1st cast, and I had a blue gill on and my son reeled it in. Next cast he made, and after a little instruction of how to set a hook, he brought in his first fish all by himself. That was it.....he was hooked. I barely saw my 3-wt Orvis the rest of the evening. In fact he even told me not to fish next to him, since he didn't want me catching any of his fish. Couldn't believe it... Ethan also caught a small mouth bass (and he was surprised at how much harder it faught)!

Fortunately I also brought my 5-wt Sage, so my wife and daughter could get in on the action too. In fact I barely fished myself since I was always unhooking all the fish Ethan, my daughter and wife caught. I did manage to catch one stocker rainbow on a semi seal leach I tied, though.

In summary, what was awesome about this event is that Ethan really enjoyed tying flies with the guys, but it led to him getting addicted to the sport of fly fishing that I love too. Much thanks guys and looking forward to the next event!

Here's a drop box link to the pics we took on the trip! Enjoy!
