Looks great. Did you harvest during this archery season?

Yeah, I missed mine, I can't shoot a bow, yet I thought I could. But this one was killed just over a week ago.

Awesome. I have an elk tag for a tricky unit coming up in October, hope I get one so I can have some tasty elk meat of my own. Plus the lifetime supply of hair for fly tying isn't bad, either!

I can't shoot a bow, either, so that's why I stick to rifle.

And yes, I am hungry, that's why I'm cooking up some chicken alfredo in a parmesan cream sauce with a bit of spinach right now.

I can shoot a bow but, I can't get my ducks in a row to ever get a hunt together. Too much homework.

Looks good. I have elk and buffalo in my freezer I need to cook up from last year. Antelope sausage was good.

How long does game stay good in the freezer? I'm sure a lot depends on the packaging but, a year seems like a long time.

If you have good packaging or layers of it so air can't get in one year is not to bad. I've kept game in the freezer for up to a year and as long as freezer burn doesn't get it it stays good.

I think it depends on the type of meat as well. Fish goes bad the quickest and I think Jeffrey Dahmer's meat storage guidelines state that up to 5 years is acceptable for human consumtion.

Yes!! I don't really keep any fish but I would never store them for a year. I am referring to red meats like dove, deer, elk, etc.... that we have kept for a year.
