Rim Lakes
Aug 14, 2017 - 9:11 AM - by Bucksnort
Sometime last month, my grandson and I rented one of the small boats at Woods Canyon. We fished, with fly rods and hopper patterns, along the banks not far from the dock. He and I caught one tiger trout each and a few sun fish. I am returning to the Rim this week but I don't want to fish lakes with sun fish unless they are found in all the lakes and are at least 20 pounds in size.

My question is, do Willow Springs and Black Canyon lakes also have sun fish?

Stormy morning brought wind and rain at 7:30 am. No fish until 12:00 noon. After that I caught and released 10 rainbows and 1 nice sized Cutthroat in Railroad Cove. All caught on black leach and black wooly bugger. Next down burst ran me off lake about 3 pm.

Good morning to all- We've been out here in Phoenix for the past year helping with grandkids. They're back in school, and we're heading home back to the Gulf Coast.
We have one last trip planned for up at Greer before we head out- I hope to trouble the lives of a few more trout before we pull onto I-10 and head east.
I appreciate the advice and reports I've read here- helped keep me sane when I couldn't get on the water as much as I'm used to. While here, I did get a big fly box... [Read More]

Makes me wonder why two grown *** men (father and son) decked out in all your fancy fly fishing gear would 1. Cut up brand new fly line 2. Leave that **** chunked up ON THE GROUND half sitting in the water with tippet/fly still attached and think that was ok. It took everything in me after I picked that up to not say anything in passing. But I'm an adult and you guys should grow up and show some respect for what us real fishermen/outdoorsmen thrive to conserve and enjoy for more than just the... [Read More]
