Snow pack

Is anybody else concerned about the extremely low snow pack and it's effect on our small streams? Is this something that would make you reconsider planning trips this spring and summer?

Mini Minnow Fly?
Apr 01, 2018 - 12:27 PM - by Hooty
Doing some research in advance of an upcoming trip to Chevy to see what flies might be worth considering this early in the season (in addition to leeches and crawdads). Came across this old post.... ..."...If someone who knew what they were doing and tied a 12 to 14 size minnow image (next week) like the one I pumped... [Read More]

Lower Salt River - fishing buddy

Lower Salt River
I wanted to reach out to the group, I am having no luck catching anything at the Lower Salt River. I have tried Wholly Buggars, SS Leaches both with bead heads & without, streamers and dry flies, I'm using a 5wt with floating line 9ft 4x tippet. Wanted to see if I could hook up with a fishing buddy to see if I could get some advice what I'm doing wrong. I've tried Phon Sutton, Water Users and hiked in above water users. Thanks

I also noted the Rim Road was open from Hwy 260, so opted to see how far in I could make it.

The barriers are still up at the Woods Canyon turnoff, and Woods is also closed off roughly 1/2... [Read More]

Lower Salt River
Sep 15, 2017 - 8:28 AM - by Bucksnort
I spoke to an angler who floats the Salt and fishes with spinning rods. He puts in at the parking area where the road to Saguaro Lake crosses over the Salt then goes downstream a couple of miles. I have forgotten the name of his take out point. He says he does it in inner tubes but I don't know just how these are arranged.

I have a pontoon boat which is powered either by oars or flippers or both. When the weather turns cooler, I may be interested in doing this.
