Rs2

Do any of you use the RS2 fly?

If so, here is a little history of the fly.

It was designed by a man whose name is Rim Chung. His surname may suggest he is from China, which he is. His is a wonderful nymph angler who spent many days over many years on the South Platte River near Deckers. He had an oriental imports business in the now defunct Cinderella City Mall in Englewood, CO but retired from that some years ago.

After retiring from the business, he moved to Canada (I believe it was Canada) to be with his daughter but missed Colorado so much, he returned in just a few years. I had coffee and a burger with him, once, at Deckers but never fished with him. We would acknowledge each other by waving when we were at the river at the same time.

Mr. Chung designed a fly as an emerger pattern, which he named Rim's Semblence #1 (RS1) but later changed the design and renamed it Rim's Semblence #2 or, RS2.

Now you know.

A great guy - I met him on the tailwater below Grand Lake one time and he gave me some flies and explained how he tied them and why. Spent a lot of time with me even though he was rigging up to go out and fish.

I met Rim when I lived in Colorado at Plum Creek Anglers where he worked. He is the one who started me in the direction of fly fishing, what to purchase, where to go, and how to fish. Landed 14 on that first outing and owe him for the success.

Rim was pleasant to chat with, never boasting, and a wealth of knowledge. I learned a lot from him and was even able to watch him in action a few times. Great man.

Cool info! I've mainly used the RS2 at the San Juan and it has produced some decent fish. Good fly.
