So when is everyone going? I'll see if I can be at Vallecito around the same time and meet you guys on the river one day.

By the way, this is that big San Juan 'bow I showed some of you at the fly and tie and said I'd put up here. A taste of things to come for those going to the Juan!

Thanks for the nice words bros.

SJDrifli- I didn't get to measure it, which is unfortunate because I almost always have a tape with me. But I tape measured a 25-incher on a private pond just before this and I know this fish had it SOLIDLY beat. Bigger than any fish I've even seen on the Juan by a good margin. Judging by your handle, though, I'll bet you've seen quite a bit more than I have on that river than I have! What's your professional opinion for the length?

The cool part is that big boy came in on a #26 parachute adams!

P.S. Seriously, when are you guys going to the Juan?

Hard to really say as it is a different angle to the camera, the arms are thrust out a tad It is a huge fish though, 26+ would be safe bet! That is a toad for sure. 26 PT eh, that rocks.

I am amazed at the size... and you say on a #26 hook? That is so tiny and are they able to hold the weight and force generated by a pig like that fighting to get off? I would think the hook would just bend or break or the tippit break since so small to fit in a #26 no matter how light you pull back.

Sorry, I mis-wrote. It was a 26 Parachute Adams. It was on the upper flats late afternoon when they were midging. Saw a very big head come up. PA, PT. They interchange in my brain sometimes.

T2F- Yeah, light tippets and small flies are scary for landing big fish on moving water. Had to get down stream and be very very sneaky with the net. Kind of end it before it really began.

Dana- Thanks for the info.
