Join fellow AZFAT'ers for the 5th annual Juanuary trip.

January 2010 -> 1/15/2010 - 1/17/2010.

We already booked the Stone House at the Enchanted Hideaway (http://www.enchantedhideawaylodge.com/ ) for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday - January 15th, 16th and 17th, 2010.

As of today, the Fly Room is still available. Looks like we are close to filling the entire place again this year. Gretchen has agreed to hold room for our group for a while (it is a holiday weekend), so use the password "Juanuary" or "azflyandtie" to book. FYI, she has a new Espresso / Coffee Bar for all you caffeine addicts.

Same drill as years prior; Friday night mixer, Saturday night potluck.

Abe’s is also a lodging option - http://www.sanjuanriver.com/.

Tentative beginning roster:
1. Seldom
2. Dana P
3. fishunter
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.

Most questions can probably be answered by reviewing threads from prior years but feel free to ask on this thread or PM me.

For any newbies;
Abes is only a couple miles down the road from Gretchen's place.
The river has many acces points within a 5 mile drive or so.
There is no cost associated with hanging out with all of the cool AZFAT'ers Friday and Sat night... we only ask that if you come to dinner on Sat, you bring some sort of food/snack/drink item to toss into the mix.
Feel free to ask any questions on this thread if you have any.
The Juan in January can be VERY cold... though last year it was beautiful.
If you dont hire a guide... and you keep it on the 'cheap'... this trip can be done for $200-$300
This will be the 5th year we've gone up as a group... it is a really fun trip.
Hope to see some new faces.

I was hoping I might figure out a way to go again but I got 2 weddings to pay for in 2010!! Fishing funds and vacation time are having to be redirected!!

But I will say this to anyone who is considering going but is hesitant because of various reasons ...Put those hesitations aside and BOOK it!! I went in 2008 when **** and everything else froze over and had a blast. I had fished the Juan before but it was a blast meeting everyone and sharing stories and info. Don't be concerned about your skill level or knowledge or knowing anyone there ...you will be welcomed with open arms and learn alot. Not to mention there is some pretty good food and (don't quote me on this) there might be a few libations

After reading my paragraph above I think I will just tell my son and future son-in-law there bachelor party is going to be at the Enchanted Hideway and 6 months before the weddings. Who's bringing the entertainment?

Anyone have a check list what needs to be brought. Is there going to be a caravan? or is there a van rented that halls 8 to 10 guys? Are we renting boats? How many really hire a guide on these trips? We sharing costs for rooms? Inquiring minds want to know

A. Somebody may have a good list to post. I do know this, it can be really cold so bring winter gear. Some days have been 12 degrees. Very interesting to have to de-ice the eyelets...

or you can look on past forums...
- 2009 - http://www.azflyandtie.com/flyforum/...splay.php?f=67
- 2008 - http://www.azflyandtie.com/flyforum/...splay.php?f=64[
- 2007 - http://www.azflyandtie.com/flyforum/...splay.php?f=36
- We have also had some Lie & Tie events prior to the trips. Maybe again this year

Is there going to be a caravan? or is there a van rented that halls 8 to 10 guys?
A. Never rented a van before. People travel on different days and times. When possible, we have had a caravan of a few vehicles.

Are we renting boats? How many really hire a guide on these trips?
A. Some in the crowd hire guides both for float and/or wade trips every year. A great idea for the first day. They can really show you the river. I have had a couple guided trips that were awesome.

That said. We got a good group who is always willing to share what they know or let you fish with them.

We sharing costs for rooms?
A. Many do go in on rooms. We are finalizing things now. Feel free to make a post or reply to this thread.
