Is the Frye fire going to burn the Creek again?

Hard to tell on the map, but it looks like it's right by Frye Mesa and the creek.

There are people concerned about the aftermath of the Frye Fire on at least 2 creeks that I can think of. It was lightning caused.

Looks like the Frye ripped right through that area. Shame...

My first trout on a fly happened in this mountain range only a couple months ago... did some research and hiking to get there. Not too educated about how these fires affect fish, but it's a beautiful area and I hope at least some of it will be ok.

One quick clarification: The Coconino NF is in Stage II fire restrictions but Apache-Sitgreaves NF is only in Stage I fire restrictions at this time.

I was in Safford for work when the Frye fire first started a few ago. It orig. started in the canyon next to Frye but eventually pushed over to Frye creek. What a shame! I always looked forward to fishing that creek when I was up that way. I was up on Graham talking with a Wildland FF about the fire and he said it was in such a remote location that they were going to have to "keep an eye on it". He said that they could not drop any fire retardant because of some endangered squirrel....jeez.

Command for the Highline Fire has been turned over to local Ranger Districts, which has already began rehabilitating all areas torn up by fire crews in their suppression efforts. With any luck, the Rim Road will open soon, allowing access to the Rim lakes.

Not too sure I'd want to wander into the burn area below the Rim, due to falling rocks, snags and other dangers, especially with the summer monsoons starting to lick the upper reaches under the Rim.

I saw on the AGF website that 7,000+ Rainbows and Tigers were released into both Woods Canyon and Willow Springs last week, preparatory to a pending evacuation from the Tonto Creek Fish Hatchery. That would be 7,000+ in each lake, for a total of 14,000 catchable trout.

And I'm committed to being home the next few days...
