Fishing from Dec 21 to Jan2

I got a good holiday break coming up in Dec where I will be off of work from
Dec 20th to Jan 4th and am wondering where might be good place to go fishing for a few days. What is the walk-in at Lee's Ferry like at that time?

Northeast Arkansas in the Ozarks. 5lb browns are common. IF you were looking at places outside of Arizona.

Otherwise, Chevy is always a good bet this time of year chasing browns.

I would like to try Chevy sometime but with my spinal neck and lower back problems, I fear that the hike in may be too much. If I even made it down to the lake, I probably would never make it out without the use of a rescue team. Thanks though.

EZ Fishing

With the condition of your back, I would suggest these:

1. Silver Creek lower pools are an ez walk from the parking lot. Let me know if and when and I'll show you some fish at SC.

2. East fork of the Black, below Big Lake. You can drive right to the river and have some ez fishing this Fall. Have friends catching browns and apache on fly rigs and they say the fish are active this time of year.

Good luck.

I have fished the Ferry at just about every time of year. There really is no bad time. There are of course some realty good times, but the walk in is fishable year around. I have been there in Nov and Feb, but never Dec or Jan.

As long as you are a nymphing fan you will do fine on just a few main staples. My arsenal includes chocolate and red San Juan worms, pink, orange, and brown scuds, zebra midges, and green and brown wooly buggers for streaming.

You will catch fish!
