I will take pics next time, 2 years ago i saw some other fish at phon d that i could not exactly identify, almost looked like walleye. They definitely were not suckers,carp,trout or bass. I am guessing they were chub but who knows.

Last week i did see what appears bass still on their beds, they are not really interested in anything.

It's hard to improve your casting or catch more/ larger bass on a fly rod if you keep pulling out the fishing pole...
Wind doesn't have to be a bad thing. Get in the right spot and cast downwind!
I haven't seen a smallie in the Lower Salt... yet.
