Frye Mesa

I contacted the AZ Game and Fish wildlife manager in Safford. After the fire, they stocked some large Gila trout in the 18" range and some smaller ones. After a heavy rain, earlier this summer, some ash and silt was washed into the reservoir which killed some of the smaller Gilas. He saw only a few dead trout where the creek enters the lake. He estimates there were about thirty or so dead trout and not thousands. That number could have increased after his initial estimate. There were no large dead fish.

He said he has not heard a lot about fishing success.

aztightlines, as I said earlier, I will head for Frye next Wednesday before noon. I may depart earlier if I don't have to pick up my grand daughter from school. I plan to fish the remainder of the day then probably spend the night at the lake.
