Dry Fly Swap - Now With Pics

WE HAVE 12, SIGN UP IS CLOSED.

A few people showed interest in another fly swap. I asked the forum elders if it was OK if I run one and was given the OK.

So how about a Dry Fly Swap? I can't remember us having one since I joined.

Here are the forum rules concerning fly swaps.

1: All fly swaps must be approved by AZFAT prior to being set up. This is to verify who the swap master will be and to make sure they understand the rules... basically to ensure satisfaction on the part of the participants. An e-mail or PM to Dana Parmelee, Fishunter, fshfanatic, Mr.Smith or any of our moderators will suffice.

2: All tiers MUST include a self addressed stamped envelope for the return of flies. I'm gonna amend this rule and say your flies need to be in a solid container like an altoids tin, cheap fly box, or cheap plastic container from a budget store. Write your name on the box, and TAG YOUR FLIES, please. - MudBug

3: If you feel you cannot complete your flies and have them IN THE MAIL prior to the deadline, DO NOT ENTER THE SWAP. The deadline is the deadline. Period.

4: 7 days after the deadline and no later, the swap master shall have all flies boxed up and IN THE MAIL.

5: Any flies entered without return postage will be donated to a member of the site to be determined by the swap master. This person cannot be apart of the swap.

I'm gonna let sign up run till 5/15 and flies will be due one month after that on 6/15.

I will not allow more than 12 people, but on the 15th when I stop sign up that will be the number you tie.

This means that if there are 12 people you will tie 12 flies, and you will get one of your flies back. This makes it easier to separate piles of flies for everyone.

On 5/15 I will PM everyone on the list my address.

Copy and past this list adding your name and the fly you plan to tie.

Q: How much postage should I have on the return envelope?
Here is what I do.

I get two padded envelopes big enough to hold the container I'm using.

I go to the the Post office and use the automated mailing machine.

I put the box of flies in one envelope and got though the steps using the zipcode of the person I'm shipping to, then I do the same for my own zipcode.

Choose First Class Mail and it will almost always be about $1.70 no matter where you send it CONUS.

Then MAKE SURE YOU WRITE THE ADDRESS ON THE STICKER YOU PRINT OUT.

Then I stick the box in my return envelope, fold it up and stick it in the envelope with the address for the swap master. and drop it in the box.

I have not done as many of these as some people here, but I have done about 20 and this has always worked for me.
