Helping Stock Trout in Rio Grande NM

Saw this posted on facebook and thought it sounded like a cool opportunity to explore a new river.

I'm thinking about making a weekend out of it. Anyone have experience fishing this area?
5000 lively native trout are ready for a new home.
Fisheries staff needs help to carry Rio Grande cutthroat trout fingerlings down the Rio Grande Gorge into Rio Grande del Norte National Monument.

-Volunteers will pack 2-4 gallons of water containing trout in a sturdy ziplock bag.
- Hikers will use established BLM trails near Questa, N.M. Trail lengths vary between one-half to one mile and may be challenging. Most trails are well maintained but can be rocky and occasionally steep.
-Approximately 3-4 hours will be required to hike down, stock and hike out.

When: 10:00am, Friday, March 30, 2018
Where: La Junta trailhead in the BLM Rio Grade del Norte National Monument
What to bring:
-Good hiking boots, sunscreen, hat, drinking water and lunch
-Your fishing gear. March can be a great time to fish the Rio Grande.
-Good day pack or frame back. We'll provide the bags, water, and of course, the fish

Directions to get to the La Junta trailhead:
From Questa, drive north on Highway 522.
About 2.5 miles after, turn west (left) onto Highway 378.
Continue on Highway 378 through Cerro and into the Wild Rivers area.
Highway 378 will eventually head south and along the gorge rim.
Continue on Highway 378 until you see the La Junta trailhead sign.
