Oak Creek this time of year

Has anyone fished oak creek lately and if so how has it been. I haven't been fishing since the end of the summer and I was wondering if that would be a place to try this time of year. Thanks

I have in the past, and done well. When I fished it I didn't find any browns, but pods of rainbows in the deeper pools. They seemed to attack stripped buggers, simi's, and even prince nymphs. The really deep fish liked a slow drifted very small RS2.

Again this is my expierence, and I am sure it can change with every visit.

Those of us who live in Sedona and Flag don't catch anything in the winter in Oak Creek, we only go there to practice our casting. It's real cold up here, I'd try somewhere warmer.

You forgot the mentions the bears, rattlesnakes, and all the empty beer cans. Plus if you fall in your going to freeze before you get back to the car. Then there is the hassle of the right parking permit.

I fished it last weekend in the snow storm. There are still plenty of rainbows in the pools. Beaded red san juan worms and flashback pheasant tails below an indicator worked best. Did have one discernible brown throw my fly.

I have heard it stays good until the lakes in Flagstaff ice over. Then all of the birds fly down to Oak Creek and start eating all of the rainbows. The Browns are smart enough to avoid them, but the rainbow stockers are not.
