Rio- Behind the Brand- Simon Gawesworth

In early fall I was lucky enough to spend a day with Simon Gawesworth, a man that really doesn't need an introduction, while filming the new episode of their series "behind the brand".

when he said that for his episode he wanted to fish a little lake in SW washington, I was surprised. Simon in the US is known for his spey casting,( which he shows why in the last bit of this edit with a single hand rod.) and Stillwater fishing really isn't that sought after in the world of flyfishing these days ( unless you're in AZ !)

But for those same reasons I was excited to watch him fish a lake Im very familiar with. It really was a humbling experience, its hard to quantify skill in flyfishing, but one look at Simon casting and you know he's one of the best to ever touch a flyrod.

hope you enjoy this!

Lost Dutch Man I also have had the pleasure of meeting with Simon and watching him cast. Living in New Jersey fishing is much like that in AZ, basicly mostly still water much like the small lakes I have fished in South East AZ like Parker Canyon Lake, once again THANKS for that info. Lost Dutch Man last year. Spey casting on still water works great. It lets you make very long casts in areas were you have weeds and brush behind you stopping your back cast. So a great tool for casting in tight areas or were you can not wade out to far. Dutch Man thanks for sharing
