Lower Salt River - fishing buddy

Lower Salt River
I wanted to reach out to the group, I am having no luck catching anything at the Lower Salt River. I have tried Wholly Buggars, SS Leaches both with bead heads & without, streamers and dry flies, I'm using a 5wt with floating line 9ft 4x tippet. Wanted to see if I could hook up with a fishing buddy to see if I could get some advice what I'm doing wrong. I've tried Phon Sutton, Water Users and hiked in above water users. Thanks

I have not fished in 3 weeks and may give a try later next week. I haven't caught any trout since middle to late February so I don't think your doing anything wrong.

Not that the water there is super clear or that you are chasing spooky stream-breads but perhaps try downsizing leader? or tying on some sz 5 or 6 tippet? what size wooly buggers? I prefer SSL over WB's if you've got'em. What size WBs? maybe downsize... when the going get's rough the tough get tiny...er.

I'd definitely drop down to a 5X leader and maybe use 6X tippet if they still aren't hitting your flies tied on 5X.

The SSL I've tied them in 10 & 12 and various colors with & without bead heads. From reading through this site I read where black and blood red were working and have those colors.. I will try tying some smaller. The leader that I was using was a 4x 9ft for the SSL Thank you for the advice.
