By electric motor I meant bow-mount trolling. Those electric outboards have come a long way though.

And thanks for the tip, David. Unfortunately, I am a couple months out at least. I can't even drive a car right now.

Here is what I am thinking of in terms of hull configuration - jon with a mod V bow. This is a 16' Crestliner as an example. I would want a floor and possible a casting deck in the front.

Any thoughts?

Nice boat. If I had something like this model, I would consider using Trex decking slats for a floor and/or casting area. Instead of screwing the deck into the cross beams (weakens the brace, btw), I would cut a dado to fit the cross members. Then use a good waterproof epoxy to secure it in place.

Thanks for the idea David. Exactly the kind of feedback I am hoping for.

Pay close attention to the trailer you get. So many of the small boat trailers you see put the boat too high off the ground. This makes it nearly impossible to launch and retrieve in a shallow lake.

I am glad you brought up the trailer and launching in shallow water seems to be a fact of life with this drought on. Starting to wonder if some of the improved launches will ever reach the improvements again.

Galvanized for rocks?
