Havasu is not the closest spot to trout... you are actually closer to really good Golden Trout fishing in the Sierras than Apache Trout in AZ.

Youre looking at about 400 miles to get to Apache Trout. Rainbows and Brown in Oak Creek are going to be your closest AZ trout I believe.

They still stock it, but it's pretty tough on the fly - very deep.

The best thing about Willow Beach is that when they stock the trout the HUGE stripers come cruisin' through and gobbling them up. If you have a 8-10" rainbow pattern you can get in to stripers up to 40+ pounds.

SHhhhhhhhh....I was imagining the surprise when one of those stripers showed up stuck on a brown WW tied to the ol' 6wt.

thanks i just got a 12/13wt.. i got spooled sooooooooo hard core today onit and it wasnt even funny!!!! my first haul of 40 yards!!! i looked down to make sure i wasnt steping on my line and off to the races i went.. i was stuck on stupid for a sec.. thought i snaged a boat but it was a 13 pound striper!!!! i dont think my fly even had a chance to get wet!!!!
