Need Rod Repaired
I have an older 7.5 -4 wt Sage-2 pc. Sage that I've managed to break my tips off (I actually have 2 different tip sections and broke both of them over the last several years.) Apparently, Sage has changed their repair policy and it would now cost me over $125 each to get a new tip section. Is there anyone out there that could repair them for a more modest cost? I have the broken tip sections. Thx.

Bob Youtz is/was a rod builder and/or repair tech and used to live in the 200 block of West Corral in Payson. He is the current Vice President of the Trout Unlimited Payson Chapter and can be reached at (928) 474-5024. His contact information was taken from an open TU web page for the Payson area.
It's been a couple of years since I've been to his place, but Bob's a standup guy. There is another rod builder in the Payson area and is a frequent writer for the Payson Roundup. Apologies, but I can't recall his name. Hope this helps a bit...

If the breaks are only an inch or two from the tiptop you can get a larger tiptop and glue it on, saving the rod. The action might even improve, especially with a 4 wt.
Use "tiptop adhesive" from Flexament, as it can be heated with a lighter/match for easy removal. |

I have good luck with a steel needle and super gel if the break is further out than what AZtightlines is saying.

I agree with aztightlines. I have carried a small repair kit with several tip sections and the glue you heat with a match or lighter. I've used it on one of my rods and a friends rod. Both times were on backpack trips. It saved the day.
