Fly Fishing in the News

Here we go again. Will there be another fly fishing boon?

Thanks
Lee Wulff taught me catch and release fishing in 1968.

Lol, I started fly fishing a couple years after "A River's Run Through It" came out and I remember how Fly Fisherman magazine vilified people who started the sport back then, looking back what a joke.

Joan is perhaps the finest instructor ever. I went through her regular school years ago and then returned for the Instructor's school. If you have ever considered learning how to really cast well, with any rod, in any situation, better register for her school now.

The last bit when she got on that fellow for backcasting made me laugh. I was on the receiving end of that more times than I care to mention...rofl

Awesome video thanks for sharing! I love seeing anything with Joan Wulf because it is how my wife and I got into fly fishing in the first place.

I was on a long mountain bike ride in Sun Valley, ID and my wife was looking for things to do that day. She knew Sun Valley was famous for fly fishing and decided to give it a try. She went to a local outfitter, rented a rod, and watched tons of Joan Wulf videos on Youtube to learn how to cast. She then found a quite spot on the Big Wood River and caught her first trout on the fly! That was 5 or 6 years ago and we have been hooked since!

Personally, I'm am as excited when I first got into this sport 9 years ago. I'll give a fly casting lesson on the spot if I sense someone is even remotely intrested. Then I give them information, stores, websites. You just never know what will come of it. One thing for sure is it is definitely a conversation starter when people stop, watch and ask questions.
"Is it hard?" Nope. Like anything, it just takes a little practice and it's just another way to catch fish. <()><+
