West Fork Black River
I have read there is an 11 mile catch release section of the upper end of the west fork of the Black River (below the rez).
Is this section still catch and release? |

Has anyone fished this catch release section?

I've fished it a few times. Not many fish and not any real size. It's possible that if you hiked way down river it would be better.

Little late here.
From the upper barrier (just downstream of Thompson Meadows) up to the Reservation boundary has some Apache and Brook Trout. Downstream of the barriers has wild browns. The majority of them are around 7-10 inches with a fair number of 12 inchers. There are also a decent number of 15+ inchers and some in the 20" range. |
