Sorry guys

Here is a letter from Navajo State Park. I will be sending them a letter momentarily voicing my displeasure of having some of these closures on long weekends, bad business on their point. There is an email on the bottom of the letter if you choose to email them as well.

12/10/09

Outfitters and Concessionaires:

This letter is to inform you that Navajo Lake State Park will be closed to all access, both day use and camping on five different days during the rest of the fiscal year.

The first of those closures will be December 24, 2009.

All closures will begin at 9:00pm the night before the closure and end at 7:00am the day after the closure. All visitors must be out of the park by 9:00pm the night before.

Tentative schedule for the other four closures is as follows:

Friday, 1/15/2010

Tuesday, 2/9/2010

Tuesday, 3/2/2010

Tuesday, 3/23/2010

We will do our best to keep you informed of any changes to this schedule.

For any questions or concerns please contact Marti Niman at:

Thank you,

If this does happen on that date, they are saying that anything that is run by the state parks, including the campground will be off limits on that day. I will let you all know what happens on the 16th, sounds like they may be wavering a bit.

I'm thinking they will change their minds. Perhaps we can help the effort by calling or sending emails.

Doesn't this mean just the State Park ON Navajo Lake?

>This letter is to inform you that Navajo Lake State Park will be closed to all access, both day use and camping on five different days during the rest of the fiscal year.<

That statement doesn't sound like it includes the areas along the San Juan.

Unfortunately no, the river below the dam is run by the state park as well.

I have never been to the Juan before, when they close the park does that mean you can't access the river at all or just the parking lots and camp grounds? Could you still park along side of the road and walk to the river? I wasn't planning on getting there until the 15th, but I was still planning on fishing most of that day. Maybe I could go somewhere else on that day?

If you can't fish because they don't want you fishing when there's no one around to run the place... who's around to bust you for fishing when you there's no one around to run the place?
