Highline Fire, NE of Payson

A new fire has started along the southern slopes of the Rim, in the area of Bonita Creek. If you recall, the Dude Fire swept through this same area in June 1990.

Following are two reports of the Highline Fire, which started Saturday, June 10.

Knoll Lake is roughly 5-8 miles northeast of the fire, with many nearby streams possibly affected, depending on fire behavior to the east, along the Rim slopes.

Lots of fire apparatus along the Rim Road last night. I hope and trust the Hot Shots were able to keep the fire from broadcasting deeper atop the Rim. Additional information can be found on the Inciweb site.
