Oak Creek This Week...

I caught a few decent browns this week. I didn't get any good pictures, but created this video for anyone needing basic tips, etc.

It has been a few years since I last tried fishing Oak Creek, and when I have fished it, I only tried the upper end at Cave Springs camp grounds and didn't see any browns. However, your info intices me to try it again soon. May I ask what section or part of Oak Creek were you fishing?

I don't fish creeks and streams much. Sounds like some great advice on your video.

I was well above Slide Rock. You need to get up the creek pretty far to be in the brown trout territory. I've caught many browns up there over the past 3 years and only one rainbow.

Again, biggest thing, is be as stealthy as you can to a point of feeling almost ridiculous about it. But, that water is so clear that anything send them running a million miles out of there. When you spook a fish, you will see them take off faster than you ever thought a trout could go.

I went up a few weeks ago and had some luck, but couldn't agree more. There were a couple of times I was crawling on hands and knees to get to a spot where I could get a good drift without being seen. It seemed overkill to me until I started hooking fish. I landed 7 total for the day, all from cover.

That sounds like a cranky bintch comment. I'm sure you didn't mean for it to sound that way. Perhaps I'm reading it wrong or PMSing or something.
