I guess that this pattern isn't that uncommon - you can find it in the Orvis Fly Pattern Index and The American Fly Tying Manual. But, I've not heard of people fishing this much in AZ. I think it's one of those old flies that has been pushed aside by newer patterns.

I like it b/c it is made of all natural and traditional materials. I fished it a bit in some Eastern streams and had great success. Even some really picky fish would attack this thing with a vengence.

Fish it however you want. I like to fish it in the streams as a dead drift and a jerky retrieve at the end. I haven't fished the lakes yet, but have a feeling that it will make a nice alternative to simi-seals and the other standbys.

There's just something about peacock that the trout love.
