Dead Ant Wet Fly - Bighand



Dead Ant (wet fly)
Slip on bead.
Build up rear ant body with thread.
Paint over with black lacquer and let dry.
Shape legs.
Tie in each set at the thorax.
Once complete whip finish behind bead.
Super glue the thorax

This pattern is for lakes that have stands of pines very close to the bank. Lightly grease a long leader, and I mean lightly. The ant is to sink and pull down the greased leader as it sinks. Watch the leader for the take. Sometimes they are hard and not mistake of fish on. Other times the trout swim up sip it in and swim along. That is when watching the leader means fish on. Kevin thought it would make a great bluegill fly and it does. But, was fisrt tried on for trout at Bear Canyon.
