Legs: Med Black
Body: 2 triangular pcs of 2mm foam appx 1" x 3/8"

I've had success with this pattern on everything from a sz 2 salmon hook for Silvers to sz 16 for Grayling and Panfish. For this variant that works well in Whites I use a sz 10 hook, change out body from peacock to gray ostrich and tie with gray and salmony color foam. It also works great for Smallmouth in green and yellow with peacock body. I like long legs, but some prefer to trim shorter.

Fish either hammer it right away when it lands or you can skip it and front of fly spits water like a bug flopping around trying to take flight. Originator is Harry Steeves. For more on this and other killer patterns, see "Tying Flies with Foam, Fur and Feathers."

I see that this is a variant of steeves' pattern. nice work.

regarding rubber legs on flies, I nearly always tie them in l-o-n-g...they can always be trimmed to size in the field, but if they're too short to begin with yer forked. plus the shorter legs don't give you anywhere near the "kick" they're supposed to provide (a trigger in my eyes).

can't wait to get these flies.

nice work all around gentlemen.
