Lees Ferry Cicada Patterns

If anybody is interested, I have photos and step by step tying instructions for this pattern. Reply and I'll post it.




Size 8, I tied this one in green so it was easy to photograph. I'll bet the fish will like it though.


Here's the size 10 tan version I fished with clients extensively last year. The original black version called Elvira is from Solitude Flies. It kills 'em too.

Materials List:

size 10 or 8 dry fly hook
thread: 6/0 similar to body color
body: 1/8" foam sheet in black, tan, green, or gray
underbody: craft yarn or similar, narrow strip of body foam wrapped
around works too
under wing: pearl krystal flash
over wing: thin skin sheet or elk hair or both
indicator: white 1/8" foam or poly yarn
legs: silicone, rubber or superfloss, color is your choice
super glue
