Chevlon fishing report
I float tubed the upper end of Chevlon yesterday form 11am -4pm. Caught 5 bows 1 brown, 10"-16"... Black egg sucking leach was the go to pattern.
The high temp was 60 give or take, hardly any wind, mostly sunny. Some ice on the lake up near the creek. The 300 is open & dry. There are some small patches of packed snow once you get on the 169. The last 4 miles into Chevlon is dry. All the roads are fine! What a great day to be fishing. Looks like the weather is gona hold for the next week. If you have the urge, it's a good time to go. Gear up...Check the Heber weather reports. Once I got off the 260, I saw no one & no other vehicles. The only fishing buddy I had was a bald eagle. He/she followed me around the lake from tree to tree. I was always in sight, with in a couple of hundred yards. Twice I had a fish on and he flew in near by to take the fish off the water. I yelled and waved him off. Didn't want to loose my fly...Once I got out of the water he was gone , flew up the canyon. Purdy cool to see all that. |

I've often wondered - would a bird take a fish that is attached to you? If so, do you just hang on till something breaks?

Here Fishy,
Depends on the bird species and tippet strength. May have to cut the line.

Fished Chevlon again yesterday. The weather was perfect, roads are good to go. Caught 6 bows 14"-16" and 1 brown 18". Another great day of fishing.
Talked to another float tuber that put in at the dam and kicked all the way to the inlet. Said he had caught several smaller rainbows and a few browns that were 18"-23". He was srippin streamers, that's purdy much what I was doing. Dang that's a long way to float tube! How far is it from the dam to the inlet, 3 miles? |

I wonder if I can rig up some form of distance meter. Let me see now, I'll need several very large rubber bands, 2 dozen yard sticks, definitely a stop watch... ![]()

I have also tubed from the dam to the creek and back in a day. It actually is not that bad...just kept slow and steady. No wind was a blessing. According to Google maps is it ~6 miles round trip (following the shoreline most of the way).
