We had a hard time landing the fish in the net. Mental note for next year, get a bigger net. That twenty pounder will be alot harder to land.

Dana, those are some brutes you guys got there. Looks like a couple of pilot cutts. The one is just plain fat, a few chubs in that belly.

Greg caught one of the pilots... around 4 lbs. We took a picture of the serial number on the tag only to find out it was actually the phone number to call and report it. Neither of us picked up on the 775 at the beginning of the number till we showed some dudes at crosbys.... pretty funny.

Not on tape measure, but the net measurement is 30" and about 3-4 inches wouldn't fit in net so it was probably around 33" or so. All the fish fought like wild beasts but the big one took me half way through my backing. 20 minutes later we netted it. My arms were spent. Thank God I had the 8 wt and not the 5 wt out.

I built an 8wt with my neighbor Dave Weaver for this trip... at one point I rigged my 5wt to throw streamers and it felt like a toothpick.
I would strongly suggest that folk go with at least an 8wt there.
That crazy looking red one that I got with the ferpes on his lip took about 15 minutes to land... by myself on a ladder at north nets... great fight while the sun was rising over the mountains.
I love that lake...

Next year I'm leaving the 5 wt at home, maybe take a 7 wt at the least. Casting with a 5wt there is like pissing in the wind.
