Reel Seat
Many years ago, I constructed a fly rod from a Fisher blank. I've used it so much, the finish is almost gone from the wood reel seat. I want to re-finish the seat without removing it from the blank but I do want to remove the metal clip gizmo at the bottom. Any suggestions on how to do this. I believe I used two part epoxy on this piece.

you could put it in a plastic bag and boil it. it may well take some time and may well also soften the epoxy holding the spacer to the blank. personally, I wouldn't bother with refinishing. character and all...
if you do boil it check periodically trying to remove the hardware. as I said it may take some time. |
