Largest AZ Brown to date

Hey guys I made it out to the stream with a good buddy of mine to fish for a bit this morning. Fishing was tough and we didn't spot very many eager fish. Towards the end of the morning I bush wacked through some overgrown vegetation as well as runoff debris into a long skinny pool. I was able to crawl to a less than ideal casting position with a very narrow window but I could see a feeding 12" fish about 6 feet off the bank. This pool was like glass. So I cut off my larger hopper/dropper rig because I was afraid the slap of the hopper hitting the water would spook the fish. I tied on a size 16 parachute adams and actually forgot to put floatant on it before sending a bow and arrow cast through the eye of the needle. It landed about 6 inches short of the fish and about 6 inches behind where it was holding. I gave it a little twitch and the fish turned toward the fly but quickly gave up on it. Feeling dejected I gave it one more twitch before picking it up to cast again and all of a sudden I saw a huge head come out from under the bank and move toward the fly. The thought came through my head that if this fish took my fly, how the heck was I going to set the hook? I had no room to raise the rod tip. Well he took, and it was the slowest and laziest of sips. So I gave him the best strip set I could and the fight was on. Of course I left my net in the truck. But thankfully he came to hand pretty easy and I had just landed the largest brown I have caught to date in AZ. I am not by any means a lunker hunter, but having the chance at a fish like this in a tight brushy AZ stream is quite the thrill!

Thanks David! Sorry to hear about the bluegill conundrum. I was looking forward to seeing some pictures of those tigers. You'll get 'em I'm sure.
