Any reports?

I know I wish I was up there last weekend instead of working. Let's see some fish porn...

Juanuary 2011 report

Left Tempe at 2:30am Friday morning. Blew a head gasket in Farmington at 9:30am. Limped to Navajo Dam, checked in and took a short nap. Woke up with a clear head and decided not to let my misfortunes affect my fishing trip. After all, there wasn't a damn thing I could do about it until Monday. Hit the river for a couple of hours and was rewarded with my first fish on my new favorite rod......EVER.

Caught a couple of nice 'bows at near dusk and headed back to my room at Abe's. Chief and Grayghost showed up a few minutes later and we hung out, shared stories, drank, etc, etc. They were most generous with rides to the river and fly patterns (Chief's orange analids were hot!).

Watched the end of the Packer game Sat night. Go Pack!

Sunday we hit Simon Point, an area I've only fished once. It proved to kick my butt. I got only two fish to the net but one was my personal best Rainbow at 22". It barely fit in the net. Grayghost said I should probably get a "man sized net." Had a few others on but lost 'em.

Monday morning I said goodbye to my new friends and headed to Bloomfield to get my truck fixed. We were able to get it running on all 8 and that, I hoped, would be enough to get me home. I was able to fish for about an hour Monday night and just hammered 'em. Every single fish was caught on Chief's analids. They were the ticket. I tried some analids from my box earlier in the trip - nada, nothing, zip.

Made it home Tuesday with only minor issues. Tomorrow - shopping for a new truck.

Thanks again Chief and Grayghost for the good times. Also, everyone at Abe's was incredibly nice as usual. Peggie and Tyler helped me out with rides to and from Bloomfield so I could fish while my truck was being working on. I didn't even ask! All-in-all at was a great trip. Just wish more of you could have made it. Next year....

Chadders,

It was way cool to hang out with you at the cabin and esp. the river. Would like to show you some places and patterns up here in the White Mountains this summer during the dry bite. See you around.

Broke Truck

Chad,

Glad you made it home alright. We had a great time fishing with you and hope to do it again soon. You can always count on Chief's patterns to get the fish. Now, about that net.....

Nice fish. That rainbow looks especially delicious.

+1 on getting a bigger net. I forgot mine at the Juan once and had to borrow a tiny little one from Rise n' Fly. It almost cost me landing the biggest river rainbow of my young life. Had to pull off some serious ninja maneuvers to get that thing landed.

Good fish brother. It's great to beat your personal best. I have a feeling you'll beat it yet again on that river.

Wow, wish I was around you when you caught that bow and brown. I would have love to add those to the bigger ones I caught there. I real tempted to head up the end of the month and get then on the orange bite as they don't hit that color to much.
