Rocky Point (Puerto Penasco)

If I go to Rocky Point with my pontoon boat carried in this manner, will I draw unwanted attention when returning the U.S.? No, I'm narcotics runner or dealer.

I have always assumed those cameras at the border can see into your soul. You're fine.

It has been quite a while since I have been down there from Tucson, but I would imagine they are used to seeing kayaks and such coming back from the shore. We go through the checkpoints at Amado and Tubac on a weekly basis and are rarely questioned about our floattubes, kayaks, etc.

Check the tide charts, as they can run up to 20 feet in the estuaries and a buried anchor dragging in the sand can put you in a dangerous situation with the strong current of a quickening tide.

The experts from the Phoenix area were always the Desert Flycasters, who hosted their counterparts from Tucson many years ago...they fished it a lot and knew the score.

If you will, give me a thumb nail sketch on some pointers about what to do and where with a fly rod.

You should be fine with your pontoon attached that way, as long as your license plate is visable. I know a couple people that were stopped because their plate was blocked by a trailer hitch cargo carrier, but that was by Highway Patrol in Arizona, not at the border.
