Woods Canyon Lake

The boat ramp at Woods Canyon Lake has been closed for construction of the parking area and roads down by the ramp. Because of the regular rain/snow storms we've been having all through the month of May, they've not been able to finish that construction. Thus, the boat ramp is NOT going to be open through the Memorial weekend. The contractors are hoping the weather next week is clear enough to finish it then and the new anticipated opening date for the boat ramp at Woods is May 31 at the earliest. The weather next week will dictate that opening date.

However, the entire lake and shoreline is still open to fishing. You can even park a single vehicle down by the store (they finished half the paving down there), but you can't access the boat ramp and you can't take a boat trailer down the hill to the store (there is no place to turn around, as that is the part still under construction). You can carry a pontoon, kayak, or canoe to the shoreline, you just can't launch a boat from a trailer. Boat rentals are available from the concessionaire.

We will be able to sneak a couple of stocking trucks to the boat ramp this week to stock both Rainbow Trout and Tiger Trout. So the fishing should be good through the Memorial weekend. I expect the crowds to still be heavy at Woods Canyon Lake, since it is a holiday weekend.

Paving was completed at the Woods Canyon Lake boat ramp area, so the boat ramp should be open from now on. They are still doing some paving in the Rocky Point day use area, but that won't affect the boat ramp area.

Good to know, thanks for the update.

Now, if only the winds will lay down and cooperate!
