I agree, it is ridiculous that we can no longer inspire the people on this forum to tie flies. Yes, I too would rather be fishing all the flies I have tied, but due to work and other things that get in the way of running to the hills to fish, I have to settle for the next best thing, like this weekly event to just sit down for an hour or so to tie some flies that may challenge me a bit.

I don't think it has to do with getting people to tie the flies, but more with general laziness (which I am often guilty of) as regards to digging out the camera, getting it set up to get a good picture, finding the cord, uploading, uploading to a website, and posting. Really its very simple and quick.

I think if we can do patterns that most people already are tying there will be more participation. I LOVE seeing intricate catskill dries and what else have you, but there are many more beginning and intermediate tiers who will participate if the fly is say, an EHC (just look at the week we did an ehc, plenty of entires).

Perhaps generalizing the fly of the week or making it more simplistic patterns will help. Getting more people motivated is never easy, but it only takes a few coonstant participants to get the other going.

Spent just over the last month moving and attempting to settle into a new place here in CO. Still don't have my tying stuff unpacked but hope to accomplish that this weekend. If I get it out I'll play along again!

sheesh.
one last week and then it appears that we are done.

monday's fly will be a foam free-for-all. there ya go...

viking points awarded if you incorporate silly putty or play-doh. you know you wanna.

at its best the contest achieved one of its goals which was to have a virtual lie and tie of sorts and it was fun. at its worst the contest stinks.

maybe we should try again once the cabin fever shack nasties set in, although I like that time for fishing best.

Coming up long enough to get some fishing in? The browns should be on the move by then...

thanks for pointing out the patent absurdity (though evidence proves its validity) of that claim.
