Is Woods Canyon or Willow Springs still open?

I want to get some end of the year fishing in at Woods Canyon or Willow Springs tomorrow. I have not been able to find out any information if they are still open. Shelf ice I can deal with as my pontoon will slide over it and eventually break through.
Anybody been there in the last couple of days?
William

The gates should have closed the 15th of December, and if they weren't closed already I think it would be a gamble as I'd expect them to show up any day to shut them.

Hopefully I'm not too late...

I was at both lakes yesterday, Woods Canyon is mostly iced over with no access from the boat ramp. A little bit of open water is available from the north shore, directly opposite the boat ramp.

Willow Springs is frozen south of the boat ramp, with most of the main portion of lake in front of the boat ramp to the dam open water. Some shelf ice is evident just east of the boat ramp leading into the eastern channel, with shelf ice possibly present southeast of the dam.

There was one boat on the water, couldn't tell if it was a pontoon or small canoe.

There was a little bit of top water action right around 5pm, but not much. Air temp was 37* and very little wind.

Hope this helps.

What a difference one week makes! We stopped by Willow Springs on our way past yesterday (12-29) only to find the boat ramp completely void of any ice. The southern portion was still iced over, with the east shoreline void of ice.

The section of water at the boat ramp to the dam was open water with some small ice shelves, and the east section of water had some icing deep into the finger.

We rolled through around 4:45pm and the water was like a mirror.
