Technical discussion:

Quote:
NW FLOW FRI/SAT SHOULD GIVE WAY TO
ZONAL FLOW ON SUNDAY. NEW MEXICO WILL REMAIN PRECIPITATION FREE THRU
THIS PERIOD. EARLY NEXT WEEK LOOKS INTERESTING AS LONG RANGE MODELS
DEVELOP AN UPR LOW TRACKING THROUGH THE INTERMOUNTAIN WEST. THIS MAY
ALLOW FOR AN INCREASE IN PRECIPITATION CHANCES MID/LATE WEEK. DPORTER

Holy Cow! I just looked at this thread and checked the temp in Aztec... minus 6 deg F right now. That is 38 degrees below freezing. This will definately be an experience!

I have a need to go read about global warming now....

Is is just me or is anyone else scratching their heads about the accuracy of weather forecasts?

Last Wednesday the forecast for Navajo Dam was as follows (actual weather in [])

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 24 [about 17]. Wind chill values as low as -7. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west[wind less than 5].

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 2[more like -10]. West wind between 5 and 10 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 30[only if 20 is near 30]. Wind chill values as low as -1. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph. [winds about right]

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 6 [it was -7]. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming east.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 34 [not even close 22 maybe].

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 12 [near 5].

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 36 [might have made 28].

In summary, these guys can't predict the temperature 24 hours in advance. All of their models must be slanted by their global warming hopes.

Pretty good numbers there Rusty. It did actually make it above freezing for a couple hours on Sunday though. Nice not to have to de-ice the guides for a spell.

5 people died from exposure in NM last weekend while we fished.

Glad to know one of them was not 10lblunker! Everyone at the potluck was worried about him ....but not enough to leave the food and libations to send out a search party
