I'm not aware of any fishery in Sycamore Canyon. The Verde near that junction does have some warm water fishes and there may be a few smallmouth bass around but densities are low. Native fish, of course, in the Verde, too and perhaps up Sycamore a ways. It's going to be a lot of work to get in there and doubtful it will bear fruit.

Let us know what you find, if you go.

Not surprised; beautiful country up there on the Verde. Better for hiking and sightseeing than fishing. Thanks for the report back.

Have you tried the confluence of the Verde / East Verde? Lots of nice smallies in there.

The confluence is not easy to access. Long dirt roads, hiking and trekking through rugged areas. Incredible place down in those parts.

As Westy says, it is a highly difficult location to get into. If you go, consider making it a two day outing. You'll spend a lot of time in 4WD low and make sure you have the correct tires on your rig. 8-ply would be a good thing.

But if you go, the fishing will definitely be worth your while and effort in getting into that area.

We got there by crossing the Verde below the hot springs, then sort of following the Verde downstream. Can't recall the exact drive time from the Verde to the jump off point for our hike, by I want to say it was an hour or more???
