red mountain park, Brown & the 202. Set a time. You may try med action 2, med action 3 and a stiff 4.

You could always CCS the rod and see what it comes out to be.

I'm shy around other casters.

I was introduced to fly fishing by my Grandfather, but I'm self taught, and most of my life has been fishing very small streams, where I could get away with crappy habits and still catch a lot of fish. So my casting skill s..ks, especially considering how long I've been waving a fly rod!

That said, if I had an opportunity to hang out with these folks offering to share with you, I'd jump on it like a kitten on a cricket!

What helped me more than anything, was my wife taking pictures while I cast. Pictures not of me, of the scenery...
But captured right there on film, horrendous form! That's me?!? I'm doing that?!?

I know better, but I can't see myself. KNOWING and doing are different...

Get together with these kind folks... Just my 2 cents

For what it's worth. I over lined the rod with 3wt and it performs much better. I can cast 50 feet or so of line without problem and was only limited by space (I was in my back yard) so I might be able to get more out with it (not that it will be needed often if ever).

Thanks everybody for the insight. I really appreciate it.

I was having the same problem with my 3/4wt 7'6" and tried a different brand of line. I ended up with some el cheapo Hobbs Creek stuff from Bass Pro and all of a sudden I could lay out 40-50 feet of line with a good flip on the end.
