Q of the Week #1 - A White Mountain Fly Box

12 patterns: 3 dry, 3 nymph, 3 streamer, 3 wildcard (it's cool to be loose with the categories).

What would you bring if you were headed up to the Whites without respect to particular body of water.

Here's mine:

Dry:
1. Adams
2. Elk Hair Caddis
3. Stimulator

Nymph:
1. Pheasant Tail
2. Hare's Ear
3. Prince

Streamer:
1. Wooly Bugger
2. Simi Seal Leach
3. Foxy Minnow

Widcard:
1. AZ Peacock Lady
2. Sunrise Special
3. Ant

edit: if I had a plus one it would be a copper john...but that is cheating

Well, I can't comment specifically on the Whites, but if I were headed to the mountains (stream and lake) and only allowed 3 of each, here would be my picks:

Dry:
- EH Caddis
- Ant/Beetle
- Stimi

Nymph:
- Flashback PT
- Copper John
- Zebra midge

Streamer:
- Simi seal leech
- Wooly bugger
- Diamond hair shad

Wild:
- Scud
- Hare's ear
- SJ worm

I could never answer that and feel comfortable, but my answer is:

Dry: 3 of the same
Nymph: 3 of the same
Streamer: 3 of the same
Wild Card: 3 of the same

Why, because their hot flies and you will need extra, make sure you re-tie after 6 good fights with Trout to keep extras in check.

Chief....I should have been more explicit...I meant a dozen patterns not just 12 individuals. Your points are spot on an well taken though.
