Crawdad Patterns

Anyone use crawdad patterns in the central AZ lakes? I've had some decent luck in Pleasant lately with streamers and thought about tying a few crawdad patterns but I don't know how prevalent they are in the central area lakes like Pleasant, Bartlett, Saguaro, etc. Whenever I see crawdads they're in shallower water but a lot of water I fish is 20' or so deep - don't know if they're a common food source there.
