Me and travis just got back will post a report w pics when i get off work around 5pm if he doesnt before then. Snowed all day sat and sunday, friday was nice and sunny. Needed four wheel to get from abes to quality waters, they dont believe in snow plows till after lunch. Caught lots of big fish and had a fun time, didnt even fish yesterday due to the conditions we needed to get out of there before it got worse, long slow drive home too no plow from aztec till just outside gallup....

Bring lots of small midges (22-24) and a big spool of 6x! Some hand warmers are a good idea too for those cold morings and tying on small bugs...

I do have some studded-felt or even studded-rubber (which almost like short football cleats!!) soles to my Korker boots. I have never been to the Juan, so tell me, do you have to wade out very far or into very deep water? At this point in my life, with arthritis and some degenerating disc problems, I don't feel to comfortable about treading into waters up to the chest or even waist high like I often see other fisherman wading into. Anymore I wade maybe as high as mid thigh at the most and only if stable bottom.

you'll be allright. be forewarned that the juan is very very slippery in places.
but unless you want to cross the river you'll be fine.

josh - my suggestion is that you wet wade.

In Juanuary terms "shrinkage" is tantamount to "initiation"

Dang freshman.

Seriously though. January on the Juan is time to respect the cold.

Layer up and stay dry.

If you are cold, fix it immediately.

If your feet start to fill num get out of the water and walk around to get the blood moving again.

Last year I tied up some rigs from first fly to dropper and put them in plastic bags. MUCH easier on the water to change a rig and only have to tie one knot... when it's 5 degrees and all.
More time fishin, less time tying
