went to lake mary today.. and boy am i thankful i brought freddieflyfish's fly w/ me.

half jokingly put on the big popper in hopes that the pike would react to it ( NEVER have i caught pike on topwater in this state)

first cast, 3 hits.. all misses..

then lots more hits and no hook ups.. upon closer inspection.. there wasnt a big enough gape between the cork and the hook tip.... busted out the knife.. did a little sculpting,, and a few casts later.. fish on.. and on .. and on. and on about a dozen more times.

that fly attributed to one of the best days ive ever had fishing.. the days that dreams are made of! the types of attacks that make pike famous!

the fly didnt stand up to the pikes teeth very well.. each fish took a little bit of the fly until it was literally just a chewed up piece of cork on a hook ... ( it caught fish all the way up to the point where it had 3 strands of bucktail left.. and the cork was blank)

seriously awesome!

this alone made the flyswap worth it.. and hopefully i have stories like this for the rest of the flies in the swap!

thanks yall!
