Iff'n you aint' fishing....

....what are you tying? Have a couple weeks before the madness starts up here, so I am spending about 3-4 hours a day in front of the vice stocking up for spring. Tying up the usuals, RS2's, Johnny Flashes, midges in various colors, stages, and sizes, lots of leeches. What you are you guys gearing up for?

I've been tying big salmonfly nymphs and the secret _______ nymph to finish off the South Fork season. A couple requests for the salmonflies has kept me busy this last week.

Last night I tied a streamer I think I'll call the 'Kill Whitey.' It's basically a bloody-looking mess that is supposed to imitate a wounded whitefish and really stir up the bull trout.

I've also been twisting up some of John Barr's slumpbusters for general streamer work.

Finally, I'm messing around with a couple bead body caddis and zug bugs, etc. I've got the nymph/streamer box basically bursting, so next stop is big salmonfly dries and terrestrials for late summer.

Jeez, and I'm sitting here tying size 24 thread midges, how come I have to tie all the tough patterns and you sit around in the lap of luxury, tying all the easy ones. It's not fair!

I'm sitting here gearing up what type of reel I should buy and the reel I'm looking at is on this web-site: www.looptackle.com and look at their video attachment on sea-run trout.
As for tying up during down time these are my got to anywhere in the southwest:

NDN Wing Ants
NDN Puff Emergers
NDN Band
NDN Hoppers
NDN C-mids
NDN Blood
NDN Whoppers
NDN Big Macs
NDN Carrot
NDN Loop Wing
Other generic ties.

Well go to go headed to Silver Creek and test some other flies that I tied up last night....weird looking ones....

That fly has no place in my fly box, even if was the hottest fly I would not use it. Though I hear its deadly for those who do use it. I could tie a mean one that would look and not resemble any on the market today. Hmmmmmm, NOT......

Oh, man... the days I had at Roosey last spring with nothing more than black and olive simis! And, olive and white clousers...

That epoxy head fly looks like another killer.

Nice ties!
