Is this a Yellow Bass or a White Bass?

Caught and released this little guy from the Crystal Garden lakes in Avondale.

Not sure if he is a yellow bass or white bass, but based on what I've read so far I am thinking he is a yellow bass. Caught on a bead-head Wooly Bugger. Sorry for the vertical orientation, it was horizontal in the original image...

Agreed. Yellow due to the broken lateral lines.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! Either way (yellow bass or white bass) it was a first for me on the fly rod.

What SAT said. From AGFD website: Found in the Salt River Reservoirs (Roosevelt, Apache, Canyon, Saguaro and Tempe Town Lake) and Upper Lake Mary. They are a schooling fish like white bass, but yellow bass relate to bottom structure more than white bass.

Would have entered Crystal Garden from SRP Canal.

Yeah, there is a healthy population of these guys in the SRP canal. I think they fight great for their size.
