Once it's in the blood you can't get it out! For me it's all about the escape, learning process of fish species and styles of fishing that interest me the most

Same here. I use good quality flies which can make a difference, floatant than shaker floatant once wet and just keep false casting to help, they usually do the trick

Had that happen to a friend a few years ago on a Saltwater trip as well, never a good sign to see that. Than again it could have been worse, like ones rod snapping off the first day and another buddy...

Great ideas out there and awareness is key. Now after talking with the head fisheries Biologist in Colorado recently, seems we have more new invasive species to worry about. Whirling is a huge issue...

I hope your friend is able to get out for some fishing, a foot pedal e-motor I've heard works well. I do some volunteer work for Project Healing waters and they have a bunch of great ideas they use...

Taper down to about 20lb Mono for better action, some use steel leaders but I get away with 20lb until a few breakoffs if any before changing, try that
