I am confused...

You know about many of the most productive lakes in the WM area, but you don't want to fish them? Do you use a float tube or pontoon boat?

If so, 1. go to Carnero. 2. Go through the sheep dip...

Surprise, surprise...don't forget Sunrise

Good reports coming in from fishing buddies. The lake is very low and a bit ugly but the trout are fat and frisky. Not lots of fish but some dandies! Just a little food for thought.

Weed report...

The lake is down 10-15% but the water quality is surprisingly good. Two feet of visibility, nice and cool and nearly no evidence of weeds! The fish are fat, healthy and in good numbers.

Horseshoe Cienega closure?

The map says lakes along the 260 will be open to fishing. Horseshoe is visible from the 260. Will it be open to fishing?

Balanced minnow

We fished them under an indicator, sometimes in very shallow water (2-3 ft.) casting was more lobbing more than casting but the fish focused on the minnow as they cruised the shoreline looking for...

Just food for thought...

Visualize a "Balanced" version of your minnow under an indicator. I fished with Phil Rowley last June up in Manitoba, and we fished a balanced minnow pattern that strongly resembles yours, that...

You are missing a bet...

Buck snort,
Carnero looks difficult and messy to get into and out of. It can be. Go anyway!! The lake has an EPIC damsel hatch early/mid June for about six weeks. IF the lake does not winter...

Carnero Lake update...

As of 2:00PM this afternoon the damsel hatch is still on. The lake will be very busy this weekend, based on the number of campers already there. Fishing was good today. 25+ to the net. About half...

Good news on Hawley!

The lake was drained (not completely) in 2014/15. As a result, very little pressure last year. Last fall I had several days over 30 fish (C&R). Water quality was good and the lake was about 80%...

Fished it yesterday...

Foam wing brown emergers, were hot for an hour early morning. The big numbers were turned in with a 1-1/4" chammie (sp?) leech w/a small red bead head nymph trailing. Set your indicator at 6-7'. ...

Jimmy's Fly Shop in Downtown Idaho Falls...

Those guys will tell you where to go, what to use and how to get there. I fished Chesterfield Res. during the damsel hatch and whacked 'em! No fish less than 20" for two days! Ask for Everett. ...

The Potato Lakes...

It's been a couple of years for me but you gotta fish Chesterfield Lake (and several other lakes in the potato fields) north of Lava Hot Springs when the damsels come on in June. We got schooled by...

We were too early...

Arivaca is way up this year. The water comes all the way up to the new ramp. Did the annual trip three and a half weeks ago. Did OK on the bass up to about 3 lbs., but did not see a single red...

Look at you...recognized for your amazing talent!

Both the ultra close-up of the brown and the rainbow hold a place of honor over my tying bench. Meeting you in that McDonalds parking lot to buy my prints a few years ago seemed a little odd...

Fly Fishing Trailer (set up for pontoon boats) and Skookum Osprey pontoon boat

Why not have all of your gear in one place. Your pontoon(s) lashed down tight on top of a carpeted deck custom trailer and a smile on your face. That was me for the past five yecars on the roads of...

Nicely done!

Nice work. Glad to see that our friends at Orvis recognize quality when they see it. One more year in first place should earn you a page or two in the catalogue!

I spent a couple of hours flogging a small private pond in Scottsdale this afternoon that is rumored to hold some bass. The fish showed a preference for deep and slow and I managed to hook a half...

AZ (north Scottsdale) has been home for 20+ years. Very nice but getting more crowded. Real estate is expensive and trout fishing is OK but at least a couple of hours away.

If not for easy...

I fished Becker and a small "unnamed" lake south of there yesterday. No one said anything about closed waters or ramps. Let's hope the fed's have lost track of some of their holdings and that...
