Rattlesnake Ash

This fire has burned a large area around Bear Wallow...a portion of the same ground that the Wallow Fire burned. That ash is going to flow right into the Black....again. I am not an expert, but I have to suspect that there will be another widespread extermination of fish. Very sad. I am hoping and praying I am wrong.

Less ash because it burned once already?! That's what I'm hoping at least...

Have not seen any burn intensity maps, but I don't think this was as hot a fire overall. While obviously there will be some localized impact, I am hoping it will be nowhere near what we saw with the Wallow where the whole upper drainage was torched.

Hope you're right Seldomseen.

I'm hoping like Seldom.
Although....it's never going to rain again so there's really nothing to worry about.

Sad thought but it seems thatís the way it is anymore :(

We currently aren't too concerned regarding ash into the Black River. Everything we have been told was that the fire was low intensity. And much of it was through the old Wallow burn so there shouldn't have been high intensity fuels. The Wallow Fire affected multiple drainages while the Rattlesnake has been mostly contained within one (a previously burned one at that). So the Black should be okay. However, a bad early monsoon localized in that area could change that. Keep our fingers crossed.

Good to hear, thanks for the update. That was my understanding as well. Let's hope for a couple light early rains out there first.

No problem. If I hear anything more, I'll post it.
